Part II is a great partnership with the first song. This song is probably for those that want a subtler sound to the original. I think they both sound good. Variety is the spice of life ;-)

I loved Empire state of mind from start to finish. 'New York' for instance personifies the romantic tone of the whole album.

Sorry but I have to disagree with another reviewer, this song(and album) is simply spectacular, the soul in her voice and the lyrics give me tingles EVERY single time I listen to it, it has hit over 80 plays in the first week of me owning it, and that was a while back now, I'm not sure what the play count sits on at the moment. Whoever cannot appreciate Alicia Keys and the musical genius that she is, should probably be better of listing to has been x factor fame thriving contestants.
