| Customer Reviews: Great In-ear Solution January 5, 2010 R Jones (Melbourne, Australia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Received my new Beyerdynamic DTX-80 in-ear phones yesterday and have been using them all day.
Love the scale and detail of the sound. Build quality is great, considering how small they are and the wires/cables look like they will take some punishment.
The plug is flat on my iPod, which means the plug won't get knocked or loosened like my old SONY ear buds.
They are not cheap, but are highly recommended.
Superb! January 28, 2010 M. Mcelroy (London UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these because I need to listen to my French lessons while travelling; mostly in a noisy diesel van. I have two great pairs of headphones but both are open backed and they were a waste of space on the road. I had considered various noise reducing types but the reviews were very mixed plus they were full size.
These are great. They cut down the outside noise by more than half and I'm now able to listen to my French lessons at reduced volume. They are clear as a bell and very comfortable to wear. When I'm listening to music they are nothing short of amazing. I can see why they got a What HiFi? award. There might be better ones out there but I dread to think what you'd need to pay for them.
What More Do I Need From A Set Of (iPhone/MP3) Headphones July 13, 2010 Andy Being rather critical of sound quality, it's taken me AGES to put my money where my mouth is and purchase a new set of iPhone/MP3 headphones. For years (at least 10!) I have been using a pair of Sony in-ear (but non-noise-cancelling) headphones and although I've tried newer replacements (sub £50 in-ear items), I just couldn't replicate the sound quality of the Sony's...why change?...getting annoyed that the phones fall out of my ears whilst exercising!
Finally I took the plunge and upped my budget, and although I use Sennheiser headphone in the home (an incredible product), thought I'd try another brand for mobile use...what can I say?...faultless. Product quality (design, build and sound) is perfect for me and the only downside that another used may find would be the lack of an inbuilt volume control. This though does not bother me as:-
a) it can be seen as spoiling the sound quality
b) when being used with an iPhone, the volume control on the iPhone itself is so easy to access, there is no need to have one present on the headphones themselves
A first class product, well worth the outlay...and a quality service. Top marks all round.
Solid headphones May 14, 2010 T. Redhead have been going through a few different brands recently. This is my first pair of good quality in ear headphones, so if you are looking for comparisons probably the wrong place to look. They do however compare quite well with my Denon AH-D1001s (around ear headphones). Understandably you will never get the same quality when you reduce the size of the housing and pay equivalent in price, but so far have been very impressed with the Beyerdynamic.
I travel alot and have a long journey into work every day so a good pair of noise isolating headphones has become a necessity. I previously owned Bose Triport (around ear) which I was very happy with. After losing them (still gutted) I chose to try out another brand - and chose the Denons. Sound quality is superior and much fuller but it didnt isolate sound very well (gaps between the padding and your head will do alot to prevent isolation). I got the Beyers today and was stunned by the sound quality and the isolation. I couldnt hear anything but my music at 1/2 volume on the Tube.
Only hitch is if i had done a bit more research I could have found the Beyerdynamic DTX 100s for the same price via other websites (currently not on Amazon and several sellers out of stock). The 80s are currently selling at 80 pounds. For the difference, if you are going to invest the money, you might as well get the 100s.
Build quality is solid, cables seem robust, and they come with a nice padded case which you can store your i-pod and headphones in!
